Taiji
Taiji or Taichi, known from the "Taiji-tu", popularly called "the yin yang symbol".
First there was nothing, Wu ji, infinite emptiness. Nothing without something.
All encompassing emptiness.
Then differentiation began, 2 extremities were formed. Warm and cold, light and dark, yin and yang.
Nothing and something, opposite to each other.
Action and reaction the beginning of an infinite cycle.
Taijiquan
Taiji quan, a martial art that uses the principles of yin and yang to overcome the opponent. Hardness is answered with softness. The attack is diverted with minimal force or even sent back to the opponent.
From a philosophical point of view, this is certainly correct. Resisting setbacks often brings more pain than giving in and seeing what new possibilities they bring.
If you really want to use this form for fighting, it is recommended to practice other martial arts in addition.
The Taiji principles can be very useful as a supplement, but only Taiji doesn't stand a chance against dangerous martial arts like
Muay Thai, BJJ or MMA.
But this is also not only reason why someone practices Taiji Quan...
Internal strength
By examining the 2 extremes of effort and relaxation, strength is refined. Energy conservation is of paramount importance, so it is important to learn how to move as efficiently as possible. Movements and postures must be correct, breathing soft and the focus must be inward. Similar to Qigong, they are not that different, Taiji is a Qi Gong form, but with less repetition and with a martial benefit.
Internal strength, uniting Jing Qi Shen (physical, energy and spirit) allows them to achieve more together than apart. Because of this, some humans are capable of superhuman feats, whether it be breaking bricks or withstanding freezing temperatures. The human body is a complex machine without instructionsmanual and you write the program yourself.
These superhuman feats are often just the icing on the cake of a much deeper internal cultivation.
Taiji is called an internal martial art, as refining strength is an inner process that is almost invisible. Strength is first physically, later it becomes energy before thinning down to spirit level. In reverse order, an intention can be the cause of a very powerful movement.
Other internal martial arts are Bagua Zhang and Xingyi.
Together they complement each other perfectly.
Taiji is slow, with circular movements
Bagua is slow and fast with both circular and straight movements.
Xingyi is straightforward and explosive.
These forms are all part of the San-Feng-Pai system.
Health and rest
The health benefits are similar to those of Qigong because the same tools are used.
Due to its dynamic nature (Qi gong stays in place, Taiji walks around), it is possible to strengthen the knees if done correctly. Because of the flowing movements, you also become more fluid yourself. This means moving more fluently and consciously, day-to-day moving becomes easier and less tension is built up. Your mind also becomes more fluid, making you easier to deal with while still being purposeful.
If everything flows smoothly, no health problems will arise or they will resolve more quickly.
Strength and flexibility are improved and maintained, creating a solid foundation.
We are all familiar with the idyllic image of a master practicing his Taiji on a misty mountain peak.
This evokes a sense of peace in everyone. On top of creating peace for yourself, resolving of stress and become crystal clear in your head, you also create peace for other people.
Taiji is beautiful to watch and allows the spectator to participate in it the health benefits
whether that be relaxing or motivating.

With us
According to legend, Zhang San Feng saw a bird and snake fighting, which inspired him to create the Taiji system. Imagery is often used to indicate something bigger. The reason a bird and a snake fight is because they both want the eggs. The bird represents the sky, the snake, the earth.
Heaven and earth are the 2 primary forces, as in Yin and Yang.
The eggs represent the state before differentiation, the infinite potential of the void, Wu ji.
The ultimate enlightenment, transcending duality and returning to the source.
Traditionally, the taiji system is divided into 3 branches.
-Wu ji, the unlimited potential of the unbroken egg:
Here Wuji, standing meditation, is practiced together with Tai He (great harmony fist), a form that combines or better harmonizes several other forms.
The focus is on total stillness of the mind.
-TaiJi, harmony of yin and yang:
Here we are going to interpret Yin and Yang. This is done through Taiji meditation, Taiji exercises and the forms Taiji 13, 28,108 and Taiji Jian (sword). You learn to work with Yin and Yang energies in your body. On the basis of Pushing hands, exercises with a partner, we learn to use the 8 basic techniques from the forms.
-Liangyi, the separation of yin and yang or "2 extremes":
This is mainly practiced with the form of Tai Yi Wu Xing, a form with many grasping movements and Fa Jin (explosive movements). This form is designed for fighting, on this level there are also 2 weapon forms you can learn "Xuan Men Jian" (mysterious gate sword) and "Tai Yi Fuchen", which is an object made from horsehair and a stick, which Daoists often carry with them to perform rituals.
Together they form a complete system, reflecting the nature of things.
